  1. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think a green like "spearmint" (# 6465) would look terrific.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

  2. A great color scheme for your room could be purple blue and green. They're easy colors to find and are beautiful together.

Here's a duvet cover you could use:

  3. I'd vote for green, purple is really hard to paint over and can make a room look a lot smaller. Careful if you do the handprints, it could get messy. I helped a freind in high school do a similar project and we used fabric paint from a craft store on white pillows and duvet.

If you're going to college next year, I'm guessing your parents would not want a room with handprints all over the walls, unless they keep it as a shrine to you and never change it.

  4. when re-decorating home, bedroom or any other room, always try to choose colors according to feng shui. in this case you will activate powers of 5 elements (water, earth, metal, wood and fire) and support all your lucky "areas" - this will attract love, romance, wealth, money, prosperity, luck etc etc

  5. I like the colors you're thinking about.

What if you painted your walls a basic cream or white?  You could have your friends do their hand prints in alternating colors (purple, green, pink, etc.) as a border around the room (chair rail height).

  6. my room is light sea green and pastel lavender on all white.  it's beautiful and i never get tired of it.  it's a cool and relaxing color scheme.  maybe the guys could do the pastel sea green on one smaller area wall or a chair-rail on 1,2,or 3 walls staying within the masking tape that you've prepared beforehand.  then the girls could do the pastel lavender.  let them overlap the prints.  that would be cute too.  if you feel that a little pink is in order, have any 7th grade friends or siblings do a few of those.  hope it doesn't get too messy with those guys.  otherwise, make yourself a stencil and do something yourself.  wish i could see the results!  have fun.
