  1. Lighter rather than darker, definitely. If you want a neutral, try a creamy beige or a warm ivory. Avoid dark green, grey, black, red, and orange. Blue could also be a good choice if you keep it light. Be sure to paint just a patch of wall at first, let it dry, and then see it in all lights (morning, afternoon, evening) before you go and do the whole room. It will save you a LOT of headaches.

Also, if your ceilings are low, you may want to paint them lighter than the rest of the room to open it up a bit.

Another way to make a room look larger is to strategically place a mirror or two in it. Move them around the room and see what gives the impression of space the most. And try to choose smaller scale furniture to add to the illusion. No heavy canopy beds, tall armoires, or anything like that.

  2. light colors make it look bigger also a big mirror would help stay away from dark colors they will shrink the room

  3. light colors such as :

    White

    Cream

    Pale pink

    Lilac

    And light greenx

  4. do you have furniture in this room? if yes what colour is it?

  5. I don't know if these would make the room look big, necessarily, but they do happen to be my two favorite colors and right now I am deciding which of them to use for my room. If you end up choosing either of these colors, will you let me know which one? Thanks.

  6. lime green is soooo pretty and makes it look big and comfortable!!!!

  7. You want to use a warm color. If I were you I would go to a K-Mart or whatever other store you have around you and get samples. Put them on your wall and see how your eyes feel about the color. Also, turn away from the color and turn right back...sometimes your eye will let you know that it's not the right color for you.

Nice colors for a bedroom are burgundy, dark red, brown, burn orange- these colors are very intimate (better if you have a sun room).

If you don't get much sun, you might consider something lighter. Keep in mind the color of your furniture and carpet as well.

  8. i agree you should use light colors not only will it make the room look big but they also absorb the light mine is white youd think it look pretty lame but what i like to do is make little drawings on the walls and tell my friends and family to do the same its fun kinda like a huge piece of paper and whenever i look at the pictures i remember them

  9. the first one listed  ... look

  10. Red , !!!!

    :D

  11. There is no specific color once it is light in color.  For example if you like pink, then use a very pale pink.  If the ceiling is low, then paint it white.  Placement and size of furniture will determine if your room looks bigger than it really is.  Over-sized furniture tend to make a room look small.

    Good luck with the remodel.

  12. Decorate using pastel or neutral colors, especially in blue or green hues, to create a more open, airy feeling. A mirror placed across from a window or open landscape image helps to add a sense of depth and expansion.

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think "regale blue" (# 6801) would look terrific.
