Color of cars which is safest and worst?

To me the question of color of cars and saftey. I would assume that the most basic color cars are safe Red, Green, Blue, Yellow and White.

Yet, I have found that Tan Metallic and sand color cars are the ones that I have either had an accident with or almost hit. Usually these are the cars that are the same color as the concrete roads. (Not the black top) Most of these close calls have been in parking lots or on freeways that have been specifically concrete and the car the same color of the road.

Now I don't have problems seeing black cars or tan on dark black top roads.

It is my opinion that the tan metallic colors that are simular to the color of the concrete roads should be banned.

What do you think?

  1. A two sided question here.

As to color choices,  the personality of a driver (aggressive or responsible)  can be reflected in a car color choice,  more true in new car purchases because the choice is more readily available.     And studies have shown that more mature,  responsible people choose less flashy colors,  silver being a favorite.  However,  these neutral colors can be more easily missed in a quick area scan while driving.

From a safety sight viewpoint,  the most visible color would be the puke green that some painted firetrucks a few years back,  then going down the scale to the neutral colors.   But,  only someone with a really flashy,  outgoing personality would be comfortable buying a car this color.     But to ban a color?

Not being seen is a problem every driver faces,  irregardless of vehicle color.  Drivers can help combat this problem by always being alert  (in other words,  pay attention now and call them back later),   being ready to yield to other vehicles (in fact,  let them go first,  idiots are easier to watch in front of you),  and driving with lights on to increase other driver's ability to see you (the reason daytime lights have been mandated).

  2. Silver

    White

    Black

    Med/Dark Gray

    Light Brown

  3. It doesn't make any difference what color your car is, if an accident is going to happen it will.  The colors are just a personal choice of what you like. It is a myth of the color of car making a difference in the number or chance of an accident.

  4. Picture these in your mind for a second. school busses and many state's road construction motor vehicles.  Got the picture?  Ok, now I ask you what is the color?  Got the picture?  Answer your question?  Now on to the color red.  What color is our blood?  When humans see red blood it can cause either increased feelings of aggression (like in a fight or war) or personal alarm (like in a cut finger).  Driving a red car seems to make some people more aggressive drivers.  When a chicken sees red on another chicken I have heard other chickens attack it.  Bulls get aggressive seeing red, yes?.  But the real truth can be seen in the statistics.  Actually red  on tail lights is not the best color as red "light waves" don't carry as far as other colors.  In other words red fades out quicker/sooner as you move away from it in distance..  That's why fog lights and many emergency lights are not red.  Tail lights red is customary from days of the sailing ships using red on the stérn of the vessel.  It got carried over onto early cars and there it still sticks.  What color are motor vehicle signal lights?  Now we're back to yellow again.  They say bank robbers prefer gray sedans and government officials usually use black cars.

  5. the tan and earth colors of brown are high hits in Arizona, white and reds are the better ones black is the same way.

  6. A few years ago it was determined that Silver vehicles had the safest drivers.  I oened a silver Jeep at that time but I went to a dark blue jeep a couple of years later.  I think that colors being banned shows too much government interferance...

  7. Yellow!  It's the most visible.  That's why they paint school buses yellow.  However, in certain parts of the country it might not be as visible as others.

Dark colored cars black, gray and dark green are usually the least visible in the evening, bad weather and at night.  In Seattle when it's dark and raining, dark-gray cars sometimes disappear in the poor light.

  8. To my knowledge, I think it does'nt matter what color it is.

I say it's the model!   My grandparents had this Buick and

it was a nice and safe car! (that thing had gumption! V-6 engine) And it was black..lol. I say the smaller the car, the more dangerous it is.
