Colorado Avalanche play host to the Calgary Flames- NHL Previews

The final game of Monday will be hosted by Colorado Avalanche as they will be up against the Calgary Flames.
This is the fourth out of the six scheduled meetings to take place between the two sides.
These two Northwest Division rivals were expected to come up with strong performances and make it into the play-offs but their campaign has gone totally the other way as both teams are struggling.
The last two meetings have been won by the Flames 4-2 and 3-2 respectively with Avalanche winning the first game 6-5 between the two sides at the start of the season.
The last meeting took place on the 31st of December 2010 where Tim Jackman and Tom Kostopoulos scored a goal and made an assist each to win the game for the Flames.
At the start of the season Colorado Avalanche were very strong bagging consistent performances which enabled them to keep in touching distance of the play-off spot.
On the other hand, Flames were at the base of the Western Conference with a lot of disappointing results. However, at the start of the season New Years things have gone completely opposites for both teams as Avalanche is at the base of the table now as Flames
crawl up in search of a play-off spot.
Calgary Flames were in the hands of Darryl Sutter when they were going through very tough times which saw them drop to the bottom of the Western Conference. However, ever since his brother Brent Sutter has taken charge of things, Flames have started to come
up as a very strong team if we compare the early season Avalanche.
The Calgary Flames were coming up with decent performance when in their last game against the Vancouver Canucks they lost. Though they led 2-1 in the final period but the strength in the Canucks offense saw them scoring twice to win the game 2-1 in the end.
This put an end to the Flames run of ten games where they scored at least a point.
Calgary Flames have played 58 games in the season so far out of which they have won 28 games in regulation time, 8 games in overtime and scored 64 points. On the other hand, Colorado Avalanche have played 56 games winning 25 games in regulation time, 6 games
in overtime and scored 56 points.
Colorado Avalanche was one of the strong starters in the season notching up win after winning. The Avalanche maintained a six game winning stretch till the late December 2010. However, after this they have lost seven consecutive games till now which hasn’t
happened in their history ever before.
"We're looking for ways just to get a win right now," Avs coach Joe Sacco said. "We turn it over one too many times and it ends up in the back of our net."
The game has the Flames having the upper hand and there is a high chance that they win the game in style as they look to make it into the play-offs.
