Colorado Avalanche plays host to Columbus Blue Jackets in the fourth and final meeting this season
The second last game of Tuesday will be hosted by Colorado Avalanche as they against Columbus Blue Jackets.
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the three games that have already taken place during the season, Avalanche won the first two meetings, both 5-1.
However, in the last meeting, Blue Jackets were able to come up with a strong performance and won the last game between the two teams, 3-1.
Avalanche was one of the struggling teams for quite some time now. They weren’t able to find a place in the playoffs.
However, the last season saw them coming up with a surprising performance during the course of the season that saw them being placed in the playoffs.
Nevertheless, this time they are back into the bottom half of the table looking to rebuild and repeat the performance that they showed during the course of the last season.
Avalanche was going through some decent times in the first half of the season but they weren’t able to carry the form into the second half of the season.
They were among the play-off contending teams during the first half of the season. However, their form in the second part of the season has seen them slip to the 14th spot in the Western Conference.
They came up with a good performance in their last game which saw them winning 3-2 after a shootout this past Saturday against Edmonton Oilers.
"It took awhile," Elliott said. "It's tough on the mind and even on the body. It wears on you a bit. You have to keep positive. It finally came and, hopefully, we can keep it going and put together some wins at the end of the season. We've played well for
the most part in the last few games but weren't getting the results we wanted. It's a happy feeling."
Avalanche has played 71 games during the course of the season out of which it has won 27 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score a total of 62 points.
On the other hand, Blue Jackets has played 72 games out of which it has won 33 games in regulation time and 10 games in overtime to score a total of 76 points.
Blue Jackets still have a chance of making their way into the cut as they are nine points behind the final playoff spot.
They still have 10 games in hand and if they managed to win all of the games, they can make their way into the play-offs.
They lost their last game against the Detroit Red Wings 3-0 which didn’t help their cause.
"They did probably the best I've seen a team get sticks and bodies in the way of shots," Coach Scott Arniel said. "It was real evident, two teams -- one team was very tired and one team was fresh."
