Colorado Avalanche plays host to the Anaheim Ducks in the third of their four season meetings
The final game of Friday will be hosted by the Colorado Avalanche as they square off against the Anaheim Ducks.
This will be the third out of the four scheduled meetings due to take place between the two sides during the course of the season.
The Ducks have been the team that has tasted success in the series winning both the games that have been played so far.
Things are getting tight in the season as the end of the regular season is fast approaching.
Each game is very important as the Ducks are in the battle for the play-offs which has five teams locked in for two spots in the cut.
Avalanche have nothing much going as they are out of contention for the play-offs and it looks as if they are going to land with the first pick in the 2011 draft pick.
Things are getting only worse for the Ducks as they have won four out of their last five games. They faced a disappointing 3-0 loss to the league leaders Vancouver Canucks.
Ducks played really well in their last game against the New York Rangers which they won 5-2 in the end.
Ducks will receive a lot of boost from the fact that they have consistently seen performances from their entire roster which means that they are bound to taste success during the remaining part of the season.
Ray Emery is expected to make his debut for the Ducks considering the three games that the Ducks have to play in the next five days.
"We think and we've thought this for a while, that he can come in and back up," coach Randy Carlyle said. "So the next step for him is if we can find the right environment, the right setting, the right situations that we feel comfortable (with) and he'll
give us the best chance for success. Then he will go in the net."
The Ducks have played 67 games during the season so far out of which they have won 36 games in regulation time, five games in overtime to score a total of 77 points.
Avalanche have played 66 games during the season out of which they have won 26 game in regulation time, eight games in overtime to score a total of 60 points.
Avalanche has come up with across a lot of disappointment.
Though they were expected to come up with strong performance during the season, they were unsuccessful in doing so. In their last game, they lost 5-2 to Minnesota Wild.
"I know there's no consolation for the loss, but for two and a half periods, I thought we played well, we played smart," coach Joe Sacco said. "The way the puck is bouncing for us right now, they get a goal, then they get another one, and we put ourselves
behind the eight ball there. The results aren't satisfying, but the game itself was."
