Major League Soccer franchise Philadelphia Union lost the first home match 2-1 of the 2011 MLS season to Colorado Rapids on July 29 at PPL Park. While the Rapids, 2010 MLS Cup Champions, were a worthy opponent to lose the first home outing to, it was the
first half performance by the Union that led to the disappointing score line.
The Union tried to make a comeback later in the game but it was too late to cover up the mess they had created in the first 45 minutes.
“We were giving them space and they were making good finishes,” Zolos goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon said of the two goals conceded in the first half. “Then, in the second half, I think we played with more heart, with more desire. I think we played good soccer,
and in the end, we created enough chances not only to equalize but also win.”
The custodian and skipper of the outfit further revealed his disappointment on the loss. The home loss was no regret, but it was the goals that they conceded. “It’s a pity we lost this game,” the veteran continued. “I don’t mind losing the home record; I
mind to give points away like tonight.”

After witnessing a lacklustre performance in the first 45 minutes, the Zolos manager, Peter Nowak, threw in two substitutes at the half time. Michael Farfan and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roger-Torres-c31530 were called off the bench to provide the missing spark, owing to their creativity
in the final third.
The players let their presence show to the reigning champions with the first attempt coming just two minutes into the second period. Torres fed Farfan with a through ball near the box and the second striker eluded the Rapids’ defence but his finish sailed
over the cross bar.
Torres scored later on, in the second-half injury time, but it could only slice the Rapids’ lead to 2-1.
The Union, despite the first loss at home, remain atop the Eastern Conference with 31 points while the Rapids, after improving to 8-6-10 (8 wins, 6 losses and 10 draws), move one place leapfrog Real Salt Lake into fourth spot.
