Colorado Rockies' centre-fielder Dexter Fowler shows optimism ahead of 2012 season
The Colorado Rockies' star centre-fielder Dexter Fowler is showing some great optimism ahead of next Major League Baseball season as he is currently training excessively in Las Vegas with his personal trainer. He is focusing on his hitting and in field catching.
Earlier, reporters asked Fowler some questions related to his next year’s ambition with the Rockies.
Fowler said replying in detail, “This is the best I have ever felt with the weight I have gained. I can't wait until spring training. I can't wait until the season starts to help turn things around. He's a huge key for us. I believe with my added strength, I can play 162 games and not wear down like I have before.”
He added, “It was an important offseason, for sure. It was huge that Tulo and Giambi came to me, and asked me to work out with them. Tulo is one of the leaders. I put a lot of trust in him.”
Recently, Fowler and his agent has signed a one-year, $2.35 million extension deal with the Rockies' management avoiding salary arbitration that initially has upset both sides especially Fowler’s agent.
Having three years’ of playing experience, Fowler has now developed his game according to the Rockies playing strategy. Since he was drafted in 2004 by the Rockies' management, Fowler is consistently playing at the highest level.
Experts say when Fowler achieved his true peak point was when he represented the Rockies' Double-A Texas League affiliate, the Tulsa Drillers.
The time he spent in the Minor League, certainly proved wonderful for Fowler. His consistent ball play was the main reason as he was given the chance to star in a Major League game.
While as soon as he stepped into the big league, he started performing in every game achieving .262 hitting average with 15 home-runs, 115 RBIs and .355 OBP.
Last season too, Fowler was tremendous with .266 hitting average along with five homers, 45 RBIs and .363 OBP. He never showed any loop holes in his hitting and played well against the fast pitchers.
Now, Fowler and Colorado Rockies are waiting for the next season to start a new beginning against some good teams.
