Colorado Rockies Michael Cuddyer feels normal at the high altitude Coors Field- MLB News
Colorado Rockies’ Michael Cuddyer is one of the assets for his ball club. He joined them in 2012 and had to miss fifty-five games due to a right oblique strain during the course of regular season. There were talks of potential trade offers for Michael but
the Rockies were not in the mood of moving one of their more prized hitters.
MLB.com recently interviewed him and took his opinions on a number of issues from playing the game at the high altitude Coors Field in Denver, to recent additions to the family to his holiday plans.
About his fitness, Michael said that he is in full health and had the season gone on for another week, he would have played the last four or five games. He is feeling healthy and has been doing his regular work outs without any trouble form the injury that
he sustained earlier in the season, which forced him out for the last 44 games of the season as well.
"I'm 100 percent, and if the season had gone about a week longer, I would have been able to play in the last four or five games of the season. I got home feeling healthy, and it didn't keep me from doing any of my workouts. I'm having a full offseason,"
Cuddyer said during the interview to mlb.com.
He didn’t feel that there was any great difference at the Coors Field due to its high altitude and he is not sure if it affected his performance in any way.
"For me from a performance standpoint, I didn't notice much of a difference," he said.
He did say that there can be some breathlessness after a long chase after the ball but that is just about it.
"Yes, you notice you get a little winded here and there when you reach when you chase a ball into the gap, but that's about it," Michael said.
Cuddyer believes that the conditions did not contribute to his injury as such injuries take place everywhere in the Major League. He said that people strain their oblique in places like San Diego as well and it’s more of sports thing rather than something
associated with the altitude of the playing field.
Michael also said that the only real difference from other cities is that you need to keep a humidifier on and need some extra lotion for your skin to keep it moisturized. He also added that similar issues arise in Arizona.
Michael Cuddyer should be an important part of the Colorado Rockies plan in 2013 season. It would be important that he stays fit for the length of the season and utilises his experience in order to make sure that his team performs well.
