Colorado Rockies acquire Tyler Chatwood from Los Angeles Angels – MLB News
The Colorado Rockies have acquired the Los Angeles Angels right-hand pitcher Tyler Chatwood in a two-way deal on Wednesday and hoping for a good future with him.
The Rockies were initially not interested in this deal but after the late comments of their own catcher Chris Iannetta of playing for another team in the league, the management decided to trade him to the Angels and in exchange, they got Chatwood.
Later, the Angels’ general manager Jerry Dipoto said in the media, who traded away a very good player.
Dipoto said, “It’s not very easy to trade away a young pitcher like Tyler Chatwood, especially a guy who is relatively local. A need at the big league level and gave us the kind of guy that fits in our clubhouse and brings a presence behind the plate that
will appreciate.”
Having less Major League experience, Chatwood was a great prospect for the Angels in 2008 when they drafted him in the second round. His early grooming that was started in the Redlands East Valley High School proved wonderful him while the Angels scouts
saw him achieving some enormous speed at the mound and eventually decided to draft him.
He made his Major League Baseball debut with full thrust in 2001 and proved his pitching skills. This was the year; Chatwood truly arrived in the biggest baseball league in the world in a game against the Cleveland Indians where he pitched in five innings,
gave away four hits, managed three strike-outs and gave away only four walks.
The very next match that he played against the Chicago White Sox was another great game. The Angels not only won the game but the performance of Chatwood also shined again where he pitched in seven innings, gave up one run along with five scoreless hits,
two walks and three strike-outs.
Having his past performance in frame, Chris Chatwood is certainly a great prospect for the Colorado Rockies in the upcoming seasons. The team will be looking for a decent performance from him in the 2012 MLB regular season.
