Colorado Rockies beat Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 – MLB Recap
Colorado Rockies outperformed Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, July 25 at Chase Field in Phoenix.
Rockies went early into the lead and later kept their opponents under pressure during the entire game.
They powered past the Diamondbacks with ease and never let their hitters take control of the game at any point of play.
Despite losing the series, this game was still a morale boosting encounter which the Rockies’ won in the end.
Their entire roster played according the plan which Jim Tracy had told them. Team manager Jim Tracy has always been a keen supporter to the offensive strategy which the Rockies lack instead playing offensive, Colorado side has always played defensively which never proved positive for them.
"That was a pitching exhibition for our young people, Jeff Francis set the whole stage," said Rockies’ manager Jim Tracy.
However, in this particular game, the Rockies' batters and pitchers attacked the Diamondbacks and slowly improved their winning chances against a powerful opponent.
This was also a very bad sign for the Diamondbacks as their five-game winning streak came to an end when they lost at Chase Field.
“It's frustrating when you get a guy throwing the ball like that, He really changes speeds, slower and slower. He throws it away, throws it away then he gets one in on you," said Arizona manager Kirk Gibson.
Now they seem to be in real trouble when they will play against the New York Mets who are playing offensively in the second half of Major League season.
In Wednesday’s game, starter Trevor Cahill played poorly for the Diamondbacks. He looked tired on the mound and never seemed comfortable as he was hammered with four runs in his total 6.2 innings.
“I felt early on I was throwing a lot more strikes, I felt better than I have recently. I make a couple of mistakes and they made me pay for it. It's frustrating when you are not going good making your pitches and they are still getting hits," Cahill said.
He also gave four earned runs on eight hits along with a homer on 3.86 ERA as he literally lost the game for his team.
