Colorado Rockies beaten by Atlanta Braves 0-1 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies lost to the Atlanta Braves 0-1 in the final game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, September 6 at Turner Field in Atlanta.
"It's one of those crazy things, but baseball is a crazy game. A lot of weird things can happen, As long as you've got more runs at the end of the game, that's all that matters," Braves' second baseman Dan Uggla said with confidence.
Rockies played poor from start of the game and lost with bitter humiliation. They did not play as one unit and could not save the game for their team.
Their pitchers and hitters disappointed with their poor performance. They were certainly outplayed by the Braves offence which performed with great energy and won in style.
Rockies’ entire roster including experienced players were given no chance to bounce back in the game. Playing defensively, the Rockies just could not match the Braves’ brilliance and lost with much disgrace.
"The game boils down to a throw back to the pitcher," Colorado manager Jim Tracy said.
On the other hand, the Braves played beautifully from start of the game and slowly but steadily won the game.
Braves kept the Rockies under pressure and eventually proved too good in every area of play.
Starter Tim Hudson pitched seven innings and received six hits without any run. He struck-out two while his ERA remained consistent at 3.59.
Closer Craig Kimbrel pitched the last inning and remained consistent with his performance. He received one hit and struck-out two while his ERA stayed persistent at 1.23.
“I thought I got it and I put my head down and I just missed it. It's inexcusable, It's really embarrassing. It's something normal we do all the time. ... It's too late now, but we'll learn from that. You see what happened. We lost the game because of that one play," Chacin said.
Rockies’ starter Jhoulys Chacin pitched 3.1 innings and received one run and seven hits on his 4.50 ERA. Though he struck-out three batters but his overall performance was disappointing.
