Colorado Rockies beaten by San Francisco Giants 6-9 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies lost to the San Francisco Giants 6-9 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, August 12 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
Rockies’ entire pitching line-up miserably failed and was smashed for a total of nine runs. They did not show their natural game and lost in the end with bitter humiliation.
“We did everything we could to try and win that game, We played with heart and we played with energy. The key to the whole eighth inning is when the leadoff pop up fell. I really believe that if we record that out, that inning was going to go cleanly. We opened the door for them," Rockies' manager Jim Tracy said on his team’s performance.
Alex White started the game for the Rockies and was hammered with three runs, seven hits and three earned runs on his blistering 5.82 ERA.
“We just made a mistake in the first inning, I just wanted to keep us in the game," White said and somewhat explained about his outing which proved disastrous for his team.
He looked tired on the mound and was able to strike-out only three Giants’ batters.
Carlos Torres pitched two innings and allowed one run and one hit on his 4.39 ERA.
Relief pitcher Matt Belisle was the main player from the Rockies’ roster who certainly lost the game for his team with some disappointment as well.
He pitched only 1.1 innings and was hammered with four runs and four hits on his 3.34 ERA.
Closer Rafael Betancourt also could not stop the Giants’ batters as he was also smashed with one run and two hits on his 2.83 ERA.
On the other hand, Giants’ pitchers played beautifully and did not allow any extra loop-holes to their opponents. Instead they kept the Rockies under pressure and eventually won in the end.
George Kontos pitched 0.2 innings and allowed one run and three hits on his 2.42 ERA.
Clay Hensley also played well for the Giants as he pitched two innings and allowed one run, three hits and one earned run on 3.40 ERA.
