Colorado Rockies crush Houston Astros 11-5 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies crushed the Houston Astros 11-5 in the fourth and final game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, May 31 at Coors Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The series was already won the Rockies but still this game could have given the Astros a slight pride back if they would have shown some energy.
Not only the Astros lost the game, but at no point was it witnessed by anyone that they possess some resisting abilities to counter the Rockies offence.
On Thursday, the Rockies came out on field with full strength and started the game with much prowess.
They played as one unit while their left-fielder Carlos Gonzalez was the only man who never gave any chance to the Astros to take control of the game. His back-to-back runs made things more difficult for the Astros and eventually proved a winning factor for his team’s outburst against Houston.
He made three runs and three RBIs in his four at bats leading his team to a fine series victory.
"I don't play for records. Records just happen, I'm happy I'm part of a record, but at the same time I'm not thinking about anything else. The only record I look for is our team record. I hit three (Wednesday) and I wasn't even thinking about hitting a home run, so why would I think about hitting another one?” Gonzalez said with confidence.
Rockies manager Jim Tracy said also said for Gonzalez’s performance."This is the right thing to do, this is the right move to make, I don't think it's anything structurally bad. However, he's very sore and very tender."
On the whole, the entire game was dominated by the Rockies batting offence which slowly but progressively led pass the Astros towards bitter humiliation of 11-5 defeat.
In the meanwhile, with this win, the Rockies have improved from sixth spot to fifth in the National League West Division. Their win percentage is persistent at the moment while 21-29 win loss record is also giving them slight hope to enter into the next round.
