Colorado Rockies crush Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies crushed the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 in the last and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Thursday, June 21 at Citizens Bank Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Despite winning this last game of the series, the Rockies still lost this particular three-game encounter with 2-1. The previous two games were won by the Phillies with quite comprehensiveness manner.
This is also a healthy sign that the Rockies won on Thursday night as with this win they also snapped the four-game losing skid.
Chris Nelson and Wilin Rosario played tremendously and earned a great a win for the Rockies.
Rockies’ starter Jeff Francis on the other hand, also played an active role in his team’s win. He pitched five innings and received only one run. He was also accurate with his pitching receiving only six hits and one earned run only.
Later the four relievers also did not receive any run which proved superb for the Rockies.
"No and the reason why is if we're going to find out about this, we have to continue to do it, We're going to buy into it. It was on my mind but I just tried to throw more strikes." said Francis with confidence.
Later Phillies’ manager Charlie Manuel said for Colorado Rockies starter as well as for his team’s performance, "He was sinking the ball away and threw a lot of changeups and breaking balls and kept us off balance, took the sting out of our bats, He was
throwing us a lot of slow stuff. He had good command of his fastball. Fortunately we won the series but this game would've been real good for us to win,”
Vance Worley pitched seven innings for the Phillies and went for four hits, two runs and two earned runs while his ERA rose to 2.78.
Phillies in this game looked tired and eventually fell short in the end against the much offensive pitching of the Rockies.
In the meanwhile, the Rockies with this latest win now stand comfortable at fourth position in the National League West Division.
