Colorado Rockies defeat Arizona Diamondbacks 6-3 – MLB Recap
Colorado Rockies crushed the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-3 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Friday, April 26 at Chase Field in Phoenix.
Earlier in game one, the Diamondbacks defeated the Rockies 3-2. However, now it shows that the Rockies have bounced back in the series with sheer offensive play.
In Friday’s game, they looked a very different team as they played as one unit and did not allow the Diamondbacks to take advantage of the situation.
"Big-time hit by a big-time player," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said of Tulowitzki's double. "We've done a nice job with runners in scoring position and we've gotten the hit most of the time."
Their entire roster played wonderfully and won in style. Especially the Rockies pitchers played very fine and proved one of the winning factors for their team.
"They (trainers) brought him in, and he completed the written test, he passed that with flying colors," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "It shows no neurological problems. They are doing a CT scan for precautionary measures. We will see what that
shows, and there is a possibility of a seven-day DL."
Starting pitcher Juan Nicasio started the game for the Rockies and pitched five innings. He allowed three runs and one earned run. He was hammered with one homer on his 4.62 ERA.
Rest of the Rockies pitchers also played very well and certainly allowed their team to seal the win.
On the other hand, the Diamondbacks pitchers were quite ordinary on the mound. They were hammered by Rockies’ offensive hitters on consistent bases.
Brandon McCarthy started the game for the Diamondbacks. He pitched six innings and allowed six runs and nine hits.
Along with pitchers, the Arizona Diamondbacks batters also could not play well and lost the game with bitter manner.
Only few batters especially Centre fielder Gerardo Parra and third baseman Eric Chavez were seen active in the field.
Parra scored one run on one hit. He batted three times and maintained his slugging percentage of .467. Chavez batted four times as he scored one run on one hit.
