Colorado Rockies defeat Cincinnati Reds 5-4 at the Great American Ball Park – MLB news
Colorado Rockies defeated the Cincinnati Reds 5-4 at the Great American Ball Park on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in front of a 27,000 plus crowd.
This was Rockies third win in four games.
The game was in the favour of the home team before Troy Tulowitzki was able to hit a two-run home-run in the eight innings. The play was reviewed and came in the favour of the Rockies to give them the one run lead that eventually made the difference.
Troy said that losing the game would have not been great for the Rockies and he was pleased that the team won the game.
“We lose this game, it's going to be talked about a lot,” said Tulowitzki. “It's already going to be talked about. We figured it was going to happen to someone. We didn't know it was going to be on our own team.”
He was relieved that the Colorado ballclub was able to win a game against the Reds who have a fantastic home record. He was hoping that his team can win the series but even if they lost the last game, it is still not bad to have won at least one game.
“More than anything, the Reds have the best home record [21-8], and it puts in a chance to win a series,” Tulowitzki said. “Tomorrow, we can steal a series. If we don't, winning one game is a lot better than being swept.”
The Rockies were the first on the board with a three-run bottom top of the second innings. The Reds scored one-run in the bottom.
The Reds added two runs in the fourth and another run in the seventh to take the lead before the good work by Tulowitzki.
The win was recorded by reliever Josh Outman helping himself to a 2-0 winning record thus far. Rex Brothers was able to throw a three up three down innings in the bottom of the ninth to record his second save of the season.
It was a good win for the Rockies after some tough time recently. It will give them a lot of confidence, particularly winning against a team with an impeccable home record.
