Colorado Rockies defeated by Cincinnati Reds 2-7 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies defeated by the Cincinnati Reds 2-7 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, July 29 at Coors Field in Denver.
With this win, the Reds’ concluded the series by winning it 3-0. Throughout the series, the Reds’ played well and never let the Rockies take control of the game at any point of play instead they kept under pressure and eventually won the game with style.
Reds’ starting rotation once again played tremendously and earned a decent victory for their team. Mat Latos tossed eight innings and allowed two runs on four hits. He gave two earned as well while he retired eight batters on 4.17 ERA.
"It's a lot of pressure coming into the game knowing that we had won nine in a row. But I attacked went after them, Today it was in the back of my mind. I can give up two runs still know I'm in the ballgame, as opposed to before when two runs could cost
you a game, I'm not so tense just giving up two runs," said Latos with confidence.
Sam LeCure also did well on the mound and allowed only two hits with no run. He remained composed on the mound for his one inning and maintained his 3.47 ERA.
On the other hand, Rockies rotation could play their natural game and lost with bitter disgrace in the end.
Jonathan Sanchez pitched 4.1 innings and allowed six run and eight hits. He looked too tired on the mound as he gave six earned runs as well along with two homers.
Though he struck out three Reds’ hitters early in his spell but later his ERA rose to 11.88 which proved one of the losing factors for the Rockies.
“I got hit around, I was throwing strikes, and they were swinging the bat. Right now, it's not working, but I have to go out there keep fighting. I've got to be more aggressive," Sanchez said.
Not only Rockies starter, but rest of the pitchers also did not perform and could not save the game against the Reds.
