Colorado Rockies ease past Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies eased past the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, August 7 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Rockies’ pitchers played beautifully and earned a great victory for their team. They all pitched accurately and never gave too many chances to the Dodgers’ to take control. Instead it were the Rockies’ pitchers consistent commitment on mound that provided them a decent victory.
Starter Alex White started the game for the Rockies’ as he pitched four innings and received only one hit. He struck-out two and his ERA remained at 5.75.
“We know what we've got. We've got 75 pitches, our job is to get as far as we can, That's what we did the last two nights. But that's the reason why we've got a good bullpen," White said of his performance which proved too good for the Dodgers.
Relief pitcher Josh Roenicke came and he also allowed only one hit in his three innings spell as his ERA remained quite persistent at 2.21.
“He continues to have a terrific season for us, I think what's noteworthy is that he's done a much better job of pounding the strike zone. His stock just keeps improving," team manager Jim Tracy said of his reliever.
Rex Brothers came after Roenicke and pitched 0.2 innings and allowed one run and one hit along with one earned run as his ERA remained at 4.40.
Matt Belisle also received one hit but his spell was fine as he did not give any score which proved one of the winning factors for the Rockies.
Along with pitchers, the Rockies' hitters also did well on the plate and earned a great victory for their team.
Right fielder Eric Young Jr. scored two runs on his three hits while slugging percentage also remained consistent at .380.
The Rockies will definitely feel good about this victory as they managed to get their offence to fire at the right time to get a decent win over the powerful Dodgers.
