Colorado Rockies ease past Milwaukee Brewers 9-6 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies ease past the Milwaukee Brewers 9-6 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, August 13 at Coors Field in Denver.
Rockies played well from start of the game and earned a great victory in the end. They dominated the entire game and eventually proved too good for the Brewers.
“The first and third inning, as far as offensive execution, is as good as we've done it all year, We were aggressive on the bases, we moved runners along, we had two really good offensive innings," Rockies’ manager Jim Tracy said.
Starter Jeff Francis looked confident on the mound as he pitched 5.1 innings and helped the Rockies power past the Brewers with ease. He allowed three runs, six hits and a homer on his 5.99 ERA. He pitched in right areas and did not lose his grip. He struck-out
two Brewers’ batters and proved one of the winning factors for the Rockies.
"To come up and put a zero up early, get some runs and get on top early, I don't think we've done that a lot, Even in the games we've won. You're pitching with a lead like that, the pressure's off. You can concentrate on making your pitches,” Francis said.
Later Milwaukee’s manager Ron Roenicke said, "Their lefty had us baffled, He had good off-speed stuff. The cutter was nice."
Relief pitcher Adam Ottavino pitched 2.2 innings and received only one hit as he too helped his team to oust the Brewers. He struck-out two and his ERA remained consistent at 4.11.
Closer William Harris also played well for the Rockies as he pitched one inning and received two hits and three runs on his 27.00 ERA.
On the other hand, the Brewers pitchers did not play well and suffered a huge defeat. They all looked tired on the mound and pitched with little energy.
Especially their starting pitcher Mike Fiers disappointed with his poor pitching as he lost the game for the Brewers. He pitched two innings and allowed eight runs and nine hits as he struck-out only one batter on his 2.63 ERA.
