Colorado Rockies edge San Diego Padres 6-2 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies defeated the San Diego Padres 6-2 in their final game of three-match series of 2012 Major League Baseball season on Wednesday, May 9, at Petco Park, San Diego.
Though the Rockies had already lost the series 2-0 one day ago, but with this win and final 2-1 series count gave them little self-confidence back.
The Rockies were also happy as they ended the five-game losing streak with a deserving win.
Starter Christian Friedrich played wonderfully and gave his team a come-back win.
Throughout the game he remained cool and calm and started a perfect beginning of his big league career. Pitching six innings of high pressure, Friedrich gave two run along with one walk, seven strikeouts and six hits and eventually proved his game when the
Padres fell short to his tremendous fast and curving throws.
"I guess it's a dream come true, I struggled the last two years. To come up here and have some success, I know it's only one, but it feels great. It's a weight lifted off my shoulders. Now I can go out and there and do my thing." said Friedrich with confidence.
Later Rockies manager Jim Tracy said for Friedrich’s good play, "That, just like last night, was really refreshing to see. I tip my cap to Christian Friedrich, knowing the work he has put in and the fact that what we saw today was the result of a lot of
work on a lot of people's part in the organization.”
First baseman Jason Giambi and catcher Wilin Rosario also played a key role in their team’s win with one run each.
Though at start of the game, the Padres were the ones who went into lead in the very first inning, but soon the Rockies pushed the thrust and gave their opponents five more runs’ hammering which eventually brought them to spirited victory.
With this deserted victory, the Rockies gave also improved their winning percentage which at the moment stands consistent at .433.
In the meanwhile, they are now looking forward to their next potential series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
