Colorado Rockies edge past Cincinnati Reds 6-3 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies snapped the Cincinnati Reds’ six straight wins as they defeated them 6-3 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Friday, May 25 at Great American Ball Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
First baseman Todd Helton rally past the Reds’ pitching offence with his tremendous batting and gave the Rockies a second straight win which will certainly put them in balanced situation from where they can come-back into the competition.
"At that point with the way I've been swinging it, I was just trying to get the guy over, Coming out of spring training, that's the kind of offense we thought we had.” Helton said on his own and team’s performance.
Recently, the Rockies outclassed the Miami Marlins in their last game of three-match regular series encounter just one day ago.
The Friday’s game was an equal fought battle between the Rockies and the Reds, but eventually the Rockies proved more courageous as they crushed the Reds in the end with their more aggressive game.
Rockies starter Christian Friedrich also helped his team to take away the game with his five innings’ spell on the mound. He received only three runs and seven hits. Striking out six Reds’ batters, he certainly gave the momentum to his team which slowly outplayed the entire Cincinnati batting lineup.
"I definitely need to get into the later innings. We've been wearing out our bullpen. They did a (great) job today coming in for the final four innings. My first professional hit, I'd been 0-since-I-signed. The last hit I got might have been in high school." Friedrich said who was the main man behind in his team’s win.
Later in the game, the Rockies manager Jim Tracy said for his team’s combined effort, "We got hits up and down the lineup, We've just got to get further into the games with our starting pitching."
This was a big win for the Rockies who defeated the team which at the moment is in far better position than their mere winning percentage of just .386 along with poor 17-27 win loss record.
