Colorado Rockies get boost with Troy Tulowitzki, Dexter Fowler’s return – MLB news
Colorado Rockies are getting back to full strength as shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and centre fielder Dexter Fowler have both returned to the ballclub. The team has suffered in recent times in absence of two of their more consistent batters.
Manager Walt Weiss was really happy seeing that his team is getting back some of its main players which will help the team at this crucial juncture of the season.
“[We're] starting to get healthy again, and that's a good thing,” Weiss said.
Mentioning the shortstop whose ribs were injured last month, he said that there is no flow issue with his swing and he did swing freely for the Triple-A Colorado Springs.
“He's felt good swinging the bat. That hasn't been an issue. Down there in [Triple-A] Colorado Springs, he was letting it go,” Weiss said.
Walt also felt that a contact to the ribs of Troy could be an issue and to prevent any such situation, he is wearing a chest guard, much on the lines of the ones used by the quarterbacks in NFL.
“The impact stuff, that's always a risk, but that's why he's got the protective pad there,” Weiss said.
Centre fielder Dexter Fowler was delighted to be back after spending time away. He said that God has a plan for everyone and he will just go with the flow for now.
“Glad to be back,” Fowler said. “You never know what God has for you. You've got to roll with the punches and keep going.”
Troy is currently batting with an average of .341 and a .401 on-base percentage. Dexter Fowler on the other hand has a .286 batting average and .385 on-base percentage. Troy is slated to start the All-Star game as their shortstop after he won in the voting
process with overwhelming number of votes.
Both Fowler and Tulowitzki failed to get a hit in the loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday. However, it was important that both went through the game without any issues what so ever.
Despite Rockies losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the Dodger Stadium, it must be a big relief for the ballclub’s management that two of its most important members are back.
