Colorado Rockies humiliate Chicago Cubs 10-5 – MLB Recap
Colorado Rockies humiliated the Chicago Cubs 10-5 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, September 25 at Coors Field in Denver.
"The job that our young kids are doing offensively is beyond impressive, Ten runs and 15 hits in six innings of offense is a pretty good night's work. You don't expect him to be pinpoint sharp, You want to see him throw pain-free, which he is doing," Rockies' manager Jim Tracy said later in the game about his team’s performance which ousted the Cubs’ in great style.
Rockies’ upfront batting line-up played much better than their opponents who remained under pressure during the entire game.
Shortstop Josh Rutledge scored one run and smashed one hit on his three at-bats. He also ran for two RBIs and maintained his slugging percentage at .513.
Centre fielder Tyler Colvin also showed good performance on his four at-bats on which he scored one run and smashed two hits along with two RBIs on his consistent .534 slugging percentage.
Catcher Wilin Rosario scored two runs and hammered two hits along with one RBI. He played aggressive on his four at-bats and helped the Rockies oust the Cubs with big margin.
"To score that many runs early and then just give it right back, you're not going to win many road games giving up that many hard hit balls and balls out of the ballpark," Cubs' manager Dale Sveum said as he explained about his team’s poor defeat.
Third baseman Chris Nelson added two runs and smashed three hits along with an important RBI on his .463 slugging percentage.
Along with batters, the Rockies' pitchers also did well on the mound and rattled the Cubs in great style.
Jorge De La Rosa pitched three innings and received four runs and five hits. He retired two while he showed great consistency with his fast and curving pitching during his short spell.
Relief pitcher Carlos Torres tossed two innings and received one run and two hits. He retired two while he remained consistent with his 5.47 ERA which also proved one of the winning factors for the Rockies.
