Colorado Rockies lose to Atlanta Braves 0-1 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies lost to Atlanta Braves 0-1 in the third game of their four-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, September 5 at Turner Field in Atlanta.
Rockies did not play well offensively and lost in disgrace. They could have played better but their upfront pitching line-up did not play their natural game and lost in the end.
"I thought we sent the best hitter we have in that clubhouse, and he ended up striking him out, We got some people on base, but when you get them on and your opportunity is there, with the way the game is unfolding and the way the other side is pitching, you have to seize the opportunity," Rockies' manager Jim Tracy said.
Rockies' pitchers and hitters disappointed with their performance. They did not show any fighting spirit during the entire game and could not match the Braves’ brilliance.
On the other hand, the Braves’ were determined and won in style. They showed their true class and hammered the Rockies with great force.
Their hitters and pitchers were too good for the Rockies as they never showed them any loop-holes which could have given them some kind of trouble.
Starter Mike Minor pitched seven innings and received only one hit. He remained calm on the mound and maintained his ERA at 4.58.
He struck-out seven while he proved one of the winning factors for the Braves as well.
“I kind of just dodged them, I guess, To me, it wasn't one of my best starts," Mike Minor.
"They're not schleppers out there, and we've had some pretty good ball games pitched against them, with Tommy (Hanson) and Mike Minor and obviously (Kris) Medlen," Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez.
Relief pitcher Eric O'Flaherty also did well and pitched 0.2 innings and allowed only one hit. He did not receive any run and struck-out one on his 2.09 ERA.
Closing pitcher Craig Kimbrel also played well and helped the Braves win against the Rockies. He pitched 1.1 innings and did not allow any run or hit on his consistent 1.25 ERA.
