Colorado Rockies lose to Detroit Tigers 0-5 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies lost to Detroit Tigers 0-5 in the third and final game their three match regular series encounter on Sunday, June 17 at Comerica Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Rockies’ offence could not hold the Tigers’ aggressive strategy and lost in the end.
Not scoring a single run in nine innings, the Rockies looked tired from start of the game. They not only played poorly but they also never showed any fighting spirit.
The Tigers looked confident from start of the game and kept the Rockies under pressure throughout. Scoring five runs in first six innings, the Tigers never looked back and rallied the Rockies towards a humiliating defeat.
This win was also a healthy sign for the Tigers as with this victory, they also won the series 2-1.
Starter Max Scherzer helped the Tigers to hold the Rockies for first eight innings. He never allowed any run and retired 12 Rockies’ batters. Maintaining his 5.17 ERA, he pitched brilliantly and kept his opposing batters under pressure.
“This was extremely important for me, It was especially big to go eight, because we've got a lot of tired arms in our bullpen." Scherzer said with confidence on his particular outing.
Later Quintin Berry said, "You never think about going 5 for 5, It is just something that happens. I was getting a lot of pitches to hit with Austin (Jackson) on base, because no one is going to fool around with him."
Later Colorado manager Jim Tracy said for his team’s poor performance, “It actually turned out to be a strained right knee, They had already played the national anthem and the umpires were on the field when our assistant trainer told me that CarGo couldn't
play."
In the meanwhile, the Rockies with another win now stand at the fourth position in the National League West with 25-40 win-loss record along with .385 winning percentage.
The Tigers with little comfortable position in the American League Central, sitting at third position in the American League Central with 32-34 win loss record along with .485 winning percentage. Detroit will be looking to carry their winning momentum forward
and build up some much needed confidence.
