Colorado Rockies lose to Los Angeles Dodgers 8-10 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies lost to Los Angeles Dodgers 8-10 in the third and last game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, August 29 at Coors Field in Denver.
“That's kind of our team now, but we're just getting to know each other, It's definitely a different feel. Hopefully, we can put this thing together quick and get that rhythm that we need to play. But really, it comes down to a matter of getting the pitching and scoring runs," Dodgers' manager Don Mattingly said.
Dodgers' catcher A.J. Ellis played brilliantly and earned a great victory for the Dodgers.
Ellis did well on the plate and scored two runs and smashed two hits. He hammered the Rockies’ pitchers with great force and eventually proved one of winning factors for his team.
He stood tall against the Rockies pitchers as he added four RBIs as well on his four at-bats. Ellis played aggressively and maintained his slugging percentage at .434.
Left fielder Juan Rivera also supported his team very well with his exceptional four at-bats on which he scored two runs and smashed two hits. He was also one of those Dodgers’ players who kept the Rockies' entire roster under pressure which later proved wonderful for them as they defeated their opponents in style.
Along with hitters, the Dodgers’ pitchers also played well and rattled the entire Rockies' batting line-up with a huge hammering.
Starter Joe Blanton despite received ten hits still managed to win the game for the Dodgers. He allowed three runs and struck-out five on his 4.95 ERA.
"As a starter, sometimes it's not necessary to get the win, just making sure the team gets the win, but that hadn't happened either way in my last couple of starts, I think the most important thing right now are the team wins, not the individual wins," Blanton said.
Relief pitcher Shawn Tolleson allowed four and three hits on his relatively consistent 4.95 ERA.
On the other hand, the Drew Pomeranz spoiled the whole game for the Rockies as he gave six runs and six hits along with four strike-outs. He played poorly from the start of the game and could not maintain his ERA which rose to 5.13.
