Colorado Rockies lose to Seattle Mariners 7-2 – MLB Spring Training
Colorado Rockies lost to Seattle Mariners 7-2 at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Pima County, Arizona on Wednesday, April 4 in their Cactus League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
Hector Noesi was the shining star in a game that was dominated by the Mariners in almost all aspects. The Pitcher showed great control and accuracy over his fastballs and the curveballs. Hector, who was acquired from the Yankees in an offseason trade, showed
great composure and temperament as helped the Mariners floor the Rockies in a fairly one sided contest.
Noesi allowed just one run on seven hits in his seven innings on Wednesday night and the Mariners established firm grip over the contest. Mariners’ number three starter will be hoping to continue his excellent run during the regular season to help his team
make their dreams come true.
The starter did not have the opportunity to prove his mettle last season after he started in just two games for the Yankees with 4.47 ERA. He was traded to Seattle in December for prospect Michael Pineda.
"I felt great out there," said Nosei in a post game interview. "My game is not a strike out game, I don't try for that. I'm OK if they hit the ball.”
If Noesi can pitch in the same fashion throughout the season, he will certainly make a name for himself. He is expected to make his first MLB start against the American League Champions Texas Rangers.
"Frankly, I didn't know what to expect -- but I thought he was very poised out there," said Seattle Manger Eric Wedge. "He showed us he can be very competitive at this level. I think to some he might have exceeded expectations."
"We're young but we're starting to put some things together," he added. "Now we've got to work on being consistent."
Chone Figgins produced a match winning performance for the Mariners, adding a pair of triples and driving in three runs. John Jaso also made a useful contribution with his three hits that included a two RBI double in the five-run fourth inning.
