Colorado Rockies off to poor start – MLB News
The Colorado Rockies have started poorly their new Major League Baseball season as they recently suffered a huge loss against the San Francisco Giants 7-0.
Rockies who are considered one of the top defensive teams in Major League Baseball were hammered seven runs by the Giants relatively young starting lineup which crushed their fans’ hopes who initially thought that their team will be lifting the World Series title.
Looking at Rockies’ late performances in Spring Training where they remained consistent with a winning record of 1-3, but now this sudden shock of 7-0 humiliation is fading away all the pride they have achieved in those training sessions.
Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki however, thinks differently and still believes that his team can bounce back.
He explained saying, “I still think we are going to be really good defensive team, but it's something I think we need to take pride in, you make an error here and there, and especially one that costs you a game, you start to think about it. I think that's maybe the case right now. It was a tough play.”
Later manager Jim Tracy stated for his team as, "Tone to a game and tempo to a game is very important, and the tempo we set in the early part of the game was not good, when you are standing out there defensively, and you are throwing ball after ball after ball.”
Experts believe that the way Rockies are playing in this season is slight dangerous. They need more off a good and offensive thrust if they want to capitalise all of their consistent players’ aggressive game. The team management on the other hand also feel that some sort of strategic changes can only bring positive change in the Rockies’ future results.
The Rockies have now played against both the Giants and Houston Astros. These both teams play naturally an offensive game, but when the Colorado based baseball franchise will be playing against defensively sound teams, the clear difference then can be witnessed. This is also a healthy sign for the Rockies who with several defeats can take some time to learn from their mistakes.
