Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez shares astonishment over Jamie Moyer’s long career
The Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez is sharing his sheer astonishment over veteran pitcher Jamie Moyer, who is at the moment playing as the oldest professional in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Outfielder Carlos Gonzalez said for Moyer, "I can't even imagine playing that long, It's amazing."
Moyer is playing in MLB since 1986. He started his career from the Chicago Cubs’ platform while he later went onto play for the Texas Rangers, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies.
Recently playing for the Rockies, he has achieved another accomplishment when he became the oldest player to win a game for his team. He pitched against the San Diego Padres as Rockies defeated the Padres 5-3.
Moyer said, "I didn't think about this day because I thought it would be unfair to my teammates and the game, To me, it was more important that I won for this team. I kind of wish I was a baseball historian, and I am a little embarrassed that I don't know more about it, To have my name mentioned with the greats of the past is special."
Moyer’s team-mate outfielder Michael Cuddyer said for his game, "Jamie Moyer won this game, make no mistake about it, He earned every bit of this. And we are thrilled for him."
Currently Moyer is throwing well and fast pace and knows his game is going into right direction. His fast throws are making lots of difficulties for his all opponents. With an ERA of 2.55 and 1-2 win loss record along with six strikeouts and 1.30 WHIP, Moyer is sitting at quite comfortable position.
On the other hand, his career ERA is also consistent at 4.23 along with 268-206 win loss record, 2411 strikeouts and 1.32 WHIP also makes him a good role player.
In the meanwhile, and on contrary to Jamie Moyer’s recent performance, the Rockies are also feeling better into the fresh season. The first two weeks of Rockies were not up-to the mark, but with the recent comeback and balanced performance of their experienced pitcher Moyer, the team is looking in good shape.
