Colorado Rockies outshine Los Angeles Dodgers 2-0 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies outshined the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-0 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, August 6 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Rockies’ scored two quick runs early in the game and later kept their lead with strong defence which eventually landed them a decent victory over the Dodgers.
Overall the Rockies played better and gave no chance to their opponents to take control of the game at any point. Instead they kept the Dodgers under pressure causing them trouble to bounce back in the game.
The entire Rockies’ roster played with big energy and proved too good for their opponents. Their hitters and pitchers played according to the plan which was laid by their team manager Jim Tracy.
Tracy also seemed happy as everything went according to his plan and his team won a decent victory early in the series.
“I am very pleased with the way we pitched tonight. We had it throughout the entire game," Rockies’ manager Jim Tracy said. "Although I would have liked to have seen Drew command his pitches a little better to lengthen him out, his velocity was explosive
and something we've been working hard at.”
He added with more details and explained about his team’s performance, "Ottavino was terrifice, and then Matt Belisle and Rafael Betancourt after were great and really thrive in pressure situations like tonight. To shut this club out isn't an easy thing
to do, especially with the lineup they are throwing out there, but we did."
On the other hand, the Dodgers who lost miserably did not show any resilience and just could not match the Rockies’ brilliance.
Their pitchers were way-ward and their batters did not hit in the right areas which eventually gave enough chances to the Rockies to oust their Los Angeles opponents with ease.
Especially starter Chris Capuano could not show his natural play and pitched seven innings and allowed two runs and two earned runs on nine hits while his ERA also rose to 3.29 ERA which proved one of the losing factors for the Dodgers as well.
