Colorado Rockies’ pitcher Jamie Moyer throwing well in Spring Training – MLB News
The Colorado Rockies’ starting pitcher Jamie Moyer is looking in great shape in 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training. He is throwing extremely well and showing the world that he still possesses some great skills to reveal in the next outing of Major
League teams in the few weeks’ time.
Playing in Spring Training with big energy, Jamie Moyer who still at the age of 49, knows, where his game stands at the moment. In the last game with the San Francisco Giants he pitched well in two innings and struck out opponent teams’ ace Chris Stewart
with swinging change-up receiving much appreciation from several baseball experts.
“I was happy with how things went, I threw for strikes and got some groundballs, I will continue to push … I believe I have a long way to go yet. I want to prove something to this team, to make this team.” said Moyer.
Moyer is one of the oldest active players in the League and also considered relative role player compared to his other league-mates. His stats tally is huge with most number of wins, losses and strikeouts while he also possessed a vast playing experience
with almost eight Major League teams. Starting his career from Chicago Cubs’ platform, Moyer went onto to play for the Texas Rangers, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies.
Having all those years’ experience and exceptional past records, Moyer still feels great about his game and never thought of leaving. Recently he had said in the media, “I still believe I can do this, now, after having the surgery, it’s kind of like proving
something to myself. Can I still go out and run around with these kids and compete? I think I can. But, you know, this spring will determine that. I don’t really view this as a pressure situation.”
Moyer, whose career record of 4.24 ERA along with 267-204, 2405 strikeouts and 1.32 WHIP is considered one of the best, can play a big role in the Rockies offense next season and if his pitching clicked and kept its fast pace, the Rockies will emerge as
competitive team.
