Colorado Rockies rout Detroit Tigers 12- 4 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies crushed the Detroit Tigers 12-4 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Friday, June 15 at Comerica Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Rockies entire roster played as one unit and rattled the Tigers throughout the game leaving them with nothing except conceding defeat in bitter humiliation.
Colorado piled up 12 scores in total ten innings and won the game in style.
"It's great to get that stigma off our back," Rockies' manager Jim Tracy said. "This is really good for our club."
Later, Tigers' manager Jim Leyland said as he looked not satisfied with his team’s overall performance, "Everyone talks about home runs and doubles, but it was a little bunt that caused us all kind of chaos. I'm a little disappointed, We could've and should've scored more, but we didn't."
Until third inning, the game was quite open with the Tigers going into lead but as soon as they game approached the tenth inning, the Rockies showed their offensive flare and scored eight runs which eventually proved the winning factor for them.
Tigers’ never seemed in touch with their lame defence which conceded big runs in the last inning of play.
Starter Jeff Francis played well for the Rockies as he pitched with big heart. He tossed 5.1 innings and received eight hits, four runs and four earned runs. He struck-out two and maintained 12.46 ERA with great accuracy.
"This was huge for me and for our team, It's a step in the right direction for me, but it is more important that we got a win. It's been a tough stretch and we needed this." Francis said with confidence on his performance which proved brilliant for his team.
In the meanwhile, despite the result of this particular game, the Rockies and the Tigers are playing quite well in this ongoing MLB season. Both teams have won the majority of the games they played so far and franchises are also watching their smooth way forward into the post season with good win-loss and stable winning percentage.
