Colorado Rockies rout Miami Marlins 5-3 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies comprehensively beat the Miami Marlins 5-3 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, August 16 at Coors Field in Denver.
Michael Cuddyer played well for the Rockies as he homered and helped them achieve a great victory. Cuddyer also added two RBIs on his .492 slugging percentage.
Along with their hitters, the Rockies' pitchers also played well.
Alex White pitched four innings and allowed two runs and three hits along with a homer. He struck-out three and maintained his 5.74 ERA.
Later manager Jim Tracy commented on Alex White whose performance certainly placed them into a more comfortable position and said, "Alex White could have gotten much deeper than he did, He had a tremendous sinker tonight. There were counts where I thought he would go right back to it and didn't. He threw a little bit more slider.”
Adam Ottavino pitched three innings and allowed only one run with two hits. He struck-out three while his ERA remained consistent at 4.05.
On the other hand, the Ricky Nolasco disappointed with his way-ward pitching. He pitched eight innings and allowed five runs and nine hits while he struck-out seven Rockies’ batters.
"I had (Rutledge) 0-2 and couldn't make a pitch, and you saw what happened, You make good pitches all night and then make a couple of mistakes, and that's the game. I left that ball up to Cuddyer. He's such a good hitter. He got the important hit to tie the (game), and things got out of control in the seventh inning," Nolasco said after the game regarding his performance.
This was one of the worst performances by the Marlins’ pitcher who has been around in the big four almost six years.
Marlins from the start of the game showed very little energy and eventually lost with bitter humiliation.
Only first baseman Carlos Lee played well for the Marlins as he added two runs on two hits along with a RBI but still his performance could not save the game for Miami.
