Colorado Rockies rout New York Mets 18-9 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies had so far not played their best game until Friday, April 27 when they faced the New York Mets at Coors Field, Denver, Colorado and hammered them with much humiliation.
Power hitter Eric Young Jr. started off the Rockies first innings stealing a base while rest of the batting line-up completed the later destruction pounding with some big hits.
Young said, "Every time I hit the ball I run hard. It's the right way to play the game, You play hard, hopefully it rubs off. And right after, everybody else started stretching out the hits."
Rockies’ manager Jim Tracy said, “It was a phenomenal offensive game that began with an extraordinary hustle play by Eric Young Jr. There were an awful lot of special at-bats in that inning, but you cannot go without mentioning his hustle and effort."
Left fielder Scott Hairston was the only player from the Mets roster who resisted with his good batting.
Hairston said, "It is bittersweet, It was great while it was happening. But when they kept scoring runs, it really wasn't that enjoyable, to say the least."
Until the fourth inning, the game was evenly balanced and anyone could have won, but as soon as the fifth inning started, the Rockies took the game away from the Mets scoring eleven runs. While the Mets did comeback in the very next innings scoring three
runs, but still those three runs were not enough for their win as they fall short again to the Rockies in the seventh in which the Colorado based baseball franchise hammered five more runs taking the game away 18-9.
This was the first game between the Rockies and Mets of their 2012 MLB three-match regular series encounter which now also favours the Rockies in the very next outing on Saturday, April 28.
Still there are plenty of chances that the Mets can bounce with their relatively young roster than to the Rockies.
They just need to focus on their current offensive power which has no more energy in it while if they able to overcome this late fully fledged deficiency, the positive results will be coming in the near future.
