Colorado Rockies’ shortstop Troy Tulowitzki looking set for a rehab stint – MLB news
Colorado Rockies’ shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is confident of making a quick comeback after he suffered a broken rib in the middle of the previous month.
Troy was on a hot form when he got injured. In the 61 games that he played before the injury, Tulowitzki has maintained a highly impressive .347 batting average. His 51 RBIs and 16 home-runs are enough to seal him a spot as the shortstop of the National
League in the upcoming All-Star game. Whether he will be able to make it or not, it is not clear at this point in time.
The shortstop is hopeful that he will soon be fit enough to be participating in rehab games. It will obviously depend on whether his recovery continues at the same pace. Currently he is with the Rockies on a ten-game road trip.
“I definitely hope for that, but I just don't know how I'm going to feel these next couple of days,” Tulowitzki said. “I could go out and play rehab or stay [with the team] on this whole trip if I don't see any improvement. But I've had some improvement.
Hopefully, it continues.”
The hitter wants to be in full form when he returns where he can it with all the power without feeling any pain.
“I need to see my normal swing in BP, not babying it through the zone. Just no pain, just feeling good.”
Meanwhile the fears of fitness issues of Carlos Gonzalez have taken a back seat as the left fielder appears to be getting back in shape after soreness in upper back.
He was given a day off and it appears to have done the trick for CarGo. He feels that the soreness has reduced and he felt better than the previous day.
“It's just a little sore from yesterday, but I feel better than yesterday and that's a good sign,” said Gonzalez.
The Colorado Rockies have lost bit of their steam from the earlier part of the season. However, they are still very close in the race for the top spot in the National League West and the return of Troy could greatly aid their pursuit.
