Colorado Rockies slip to Los Angeles Dodgers 4-6 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-6 in the third and last game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, August 8 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Rockies’ upfront offence played poorly and suffered an embarrassing defeat. Their pitchers and at the same time hitters did not play well and received a 4-6 hammering.
"I think when Matt hits that home run it changes the momentum, Even one run there is huge, but he gets us three quick," Dodgers' manager Don Mattingly said on his team’s victory.
Rockies’ starting line-up failed miserably and could not match the Dodgers’ brilliance.
Jeff Francis started the play for the Rockies and gave three runs and three earned runs. He also allowed four hits in his four innings spell while he was also smashed with one homer. He struck-out two Dodgers' hitters and his ERA rose to 6.06.
“[It was] just a changeup down the middle, We came out swinging and I was disappointed that I couldn't shut them down that inning," Francis said on his performance which clearly proved disastrous for the Rockies.
Later relief pitcher Carlos Torres came to support his starter but he too was hammered for three runs, three earned runs and five hits. He struck-out one as his ERA remained at 4.38.
Though most of the Rockies' hitters were failed to show their natural aggressive game but still a couple of Colorado’s players did try to give their team little stability.
Eric Young Jr. was of them as he scored one run and added one RBI on his five at-bats. He looked comfortable on the mound as his slugging percentage remained consistent at .403.
“I didn't see it. I just knew he missed it, Rounding second, coach waving his arms crazy, I knew we were going for it, and I wanted to make that final stretch for it. I just put a good swing on it, saw the trajectory and immediately put my head down," Young said after the game told the media about his and the Rockies performance.
Along with Eric, centre fielder Dexter Fowler also played well for the Rockies with his one run and two hits but still both these players’ contribution was not enough for their team to win against the Dodgers.
