Colorado Rockies sneak past San Diego Padres 11-10 – MLB Recap
The Colorado Rockies defeated the San Diego Padres with a one-run advantage 11-10 in the third and last game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, September 2 at Coors Field in Denver.
Overall the game was played at a high pace as both teams showed aggressive plays.
Rockies batted well and at the same time, the Padres pitched quite accurately but in the end Colorado were more determined and proved too good for San Diego.
"I was hustling out of the box, but I got it pretty good and I was thinking triple out there, The day wasn't going the best for me, just wasn't going well, and it all came out at once, I've had a couple (of game-winning homers) before but none like that one,” said Nelson.
He added, “It's a great feeling, a great feeling to be up at the plate with guys in scoring position and to get them all in, everybody is just doing their job. Everybody is doing what they need to do to get the win at the end of the day."
Rockies’ left fielder Carlos Gonzalez did well on his four at-bats as he scored two runs and one hit on his .524 slugging percentage.
First baseman Jordan Pacheco also batted well for the Rockies as he scored two runs and smashed two hits on his .420 slugging percentage. He remained calm for two RBIs as well.
Right fielder Tyler Colvin also played well and scored one run on one hit. He added two RBIs in his team’s total score tally.
Along with batters, the Rockies' pitchers also played well and earned a great victory for their team.
Jeff Francis pitched 3.2 innings and received six runs and ten hits. He struck-out four while his ERA remained at 5.73.
For Francis this particular outing was not impressive but overall he won the game for his team.
Relief pitcher Adam Ottavino also did well on the mound as he pitched 2.2 innings and received only three runs and six hits on his consistent 3.82 ERA.
