Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jamie Moyer off-to average start – MLB News
The Colorado Rockies’ starting pitcher and one of the most aged active players in the Major League Baseball, Jamie Moyer has begun showing early signs of his anticipation. He is currently playing in this year’s Spring Training and displaying good energy even at the age of 49.
However, his early performances are not producing the level of stats which he was expecting at start of the Spring Trainings. Though, his performance is not showing good numbers, but his morale seems pretty high when he commented in the media as how he is felling lately pitching with full strength. Moyer said, “I felt great, I felt strong. The performance actually stunk in the first inning. I found the big part of the plate, but that's just a reminder to me about what happens when you find the big part of the plate. But overall, I think it was a step forward."
Later team manager Jim Tracy also made comments on Moyer’s performance and described as to how he is performing. He said, "I am not going to sit here and overly weigh that. What I'm looking for over the course of the next couple of weeks is the question, as we get in a position of stretching him out, how does his body respond from one outing to the next?"
Still almost two weeks’ are remaining on Moyer’s future that whether he fills the number five starting roster or not. The management is also hoping that Moyer must take appropriate throwing practice before starting a Major League game.
Having almost 23 years of experience, Moyer is a seasoned pitcher and played with almost eight different Major League franchises. Starting his career from the Chicago Cubs’ franchise, Moyer went on to play for the Texas Rangers including St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies.
His arrival in the Rockies is a good sign as they still suffer from a persistent drought of good pitchers. Not only Moyer is a good player, but he is also considered one of the very best role players in the league. He gives right kind of motivation to the entire roster and shows them ways to excel in their respective positions.
