Colorado Rockies thrash Los Angeles Dodgers 12-2 – MLB Recap
Colorado Rockies thrashed the Los Angeles Dodgers 12-2 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, April 29 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
The Rockies upfront batting lineup played exceptionally well and showed their offensive power. They played as one unit and rattled the Dodgers with great force.
Not only their batting lineup, but Rockies pitchers also played wonderfully and kept the Dodgers’ entire roster under pressure during the entire game.
As soon as the Rockies approached the Dodgers’ home-field, they looked confident and wanted to win this particular encounter.
Tyler Chatwood started the game for the Rockies. He pitched six scoreless innings on 3.00 ERA. He struck out five and showed his offensive power.
"Three lucky swings," said Chatwood, who is 4 for 6 this season. "But pitching definitely comes first. It's just a bonus when you get a hit."
Chatwood added, "I wanted to make a point to apologize, so I apologized, and he said no harm, no foul, I'll probably try to find him tomorrow and apologize again. Whenever you hit a guy in the head, it's scary for everybody."
"When Tyler keeps the ball down, he's really, really tough, He's got great stuff, and he's got a power arm. He's a good athlete. I didn't know he could swing it like that," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said.
Relief pitcher Adam Ottavino pitched two innings and received two runs on one hit. He struck out four and received a homer on 1.98 ERA.
Closer Wilton Lopez also pitched very well for the Rockies. He pitched one inning and struck out one. Allowing no run or hit, he finished his spell achieving 6.17 ERA.
On the other hand, it was the Dodgers’ pitching lineup that lost the game for them. From starter to closing pitcher, they all received big hits and could not save the game for their team.
Ted Lilly pitched first three innings for the Dodgers and received five runs and eight hits along with two homers on 5.63 ERA.
Later all the Dodgers pitchers also received big hits and just could not stop the Rockies batters to score runs on consistent bases.
