Colorado Rockies trounce Chicago Cubs 6-0 – MLB Recap
Colorado Rockies trounced the Chicago Cubs 6-0 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, September 26 at Coors Field in Denver.
"That was probably his best game since his start in Washington," Rockies' manager Jim Tracy said.
Left fielder Charlie Blackmon played beautifully and won the game for the Rockies. He added two runs and smashed one hit along with one RBI on his consistent .402 slugging percentage.
Rockies’ inexperienced left fielder was also exceptional in the field as he played with great energy and proved one of the winning factors for his team.
First baseman Jordan Pacheco added two runs and two hits along with one RBI on his consistent .414 slugging percentage.
Pacheco proved to be a great help to the Rockies who needed to get their morale back after losing too many games from lower average opponents.
Centre fielder Tyler Colvin also played well as he scored one run and smashed two hits on his three at-bats. He played aggressive and kept the Cubs’ pitchers under pressure as he remained calm on his .535 slugging percentage.
"We want to end on a good note and give us something to be hungry about in the offseason," outfielder Tyler Colvin said.
Along with batters, the Rockies' pitchers also played well and earned a great victory. They pitched in right areas and helped their team oust the Cubs’ with ease.
Drew Pomeranz pitched five innings and received only three runs and retired three Cubs’ batters on his consistent 5.01 ERA.
"I had a pretty good fourth inning so maybe that's why he let me go out there for a little longer, In the starts before, I was trying to make too good of pitches. I tried to slow things down and keep it simple and throw strikes, Let them hit it, let them get themselves out instead of trying to throw the perfect pitch," Pomeranz said.
Team-mate and relief pitcher Alex White also pitched well for the Rockies. He did not receive any run on his two innings spell while he also retired two on his 5.44 innings.
