Question:

Colored Grout Stained White?

I have unsealed brown colored grout in my shower and every spot that water touches, the grout has turned white-ish. I have tried every product under the sun to get the white out, but it doesn't work. Is that soap scum? What can I do to get it back to it's original brown color before I seal it?

  1. No worries.  It's probably hard water stains.  I've cleaned my grout with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.  Just scrub it and it should go back to the original color.

  2. The only thing that I can think of is for you to go into a Tile store and buy some coloured grout to repair the shower , I had to remove it with a sharp blade otherwise the water will penetrate and cause more damage to the wall, and mold will set in, so perhaps you could do the same thing ,it's not difficult to do , you use your finger to re apply the grout. What happened is that the colour grout lost its tint and returned to white nothing else.
