Question:

Colored contacts trial certificate?

I have two different trial certificates for contacts, one for Freshlook (gray) and one for Acuvue (jade green). I want to try out both colors, but I'm wondering if most optometrists will let me walk away with both pairs?

Also, if I go in for one and find I don't like the color, can I go back for another color instead? I'm not sure if they'll let me take them with me, because I have certain costumes that I have to wear them with that I am NOT wearing to the appointment.

  1. First off, you need a regular exam for the health of your eyes , and then you will have to have a contact lense fitting evaluation. They might even let you try several colors if you want to try them! Most offices do not need the certificates to get trial lenses for you. be aware that the demos might have the word DEMO right accross it so you will look silly walking around in them. These are intended for diagnostic purposes so that you can choose a color to try so you can order them and PAY to get them The "free" certificate is meant as a lure to get you in there. This is not a cool way just to get free contacts.  If you are serious about being a contact lense wearer, this should not be a big deal to you and you can try a lot of different kinds in the office before you decide what you are actually going to choose. Some of my patients order a couple of different colors. but just going in as a mooch usually does not work, even iwth the "free" trial certificate. You can get free trials without a certificate if you are serious about the whole thing. Really. Call your eye doctor and see. Just know, that without the fitting part of an eye exam, they most likely just won't give you the lenses just for fun. there is too much liablility involved with prescriptive things, contacts are no exception even if they have no correction, they are legally prescriptive. Keep that in mind.
