Colorguard?

I'll be doing colorguard for my college this year, and Im not sure what to expect...Can someone please let me know how to be physically and mentally prepared? What is the toughest thing that I will need to brace myself for? Thanks.

  1. Have you ever done Guard work? Have any experience in high school?

    Keep in mind though, college band is a lot different than in high school.

    Drill is more complex and you're being blended in with people who are better than you and worse than you.

    It's also fast paced, you don't have nearly the time to learn the drill as you did in high school.

    The only thing I suggest is, if you've had experience, just be prepared to work your *** off. Be prepared to learn drill, then the next day, it changes completely, then the next day, it changes again.

    Keep and open mind about it.

    Most guards that involve rifles, and sabors (which I love), they have miniture try-outs OR they have someone who is well skilled in it.

    Flags, not a big deal. They don't want a novice rifle or sabor on the field. I've been skilled with the sabor for 3 years, then when I came to college, I thought I knew it. Psht...people were 100% better than me, and with 5 years experience I finally had the chance to bring it to the college field.
