If I am looking at the color blue how do I know you see the same color as me when you look at it. It may look to you like red looks to me but we both know it as blue. Like we are programed to call it blue.

What do you think???

  1. Ryanus is party wrong. Scientist have been trying to figure this out for years, but really, noone knows =]

  2. When we first learn to identify and distinguish the name of different colors, we are shown different colors and define them with a name. If people are then shown a color of a particular wave length,  they will all give it the same name as the one they were taught. Also, since physiologically, we all possess the same basic genetic structure, our brains process stimuli in the same manner, so our electrochemical synapses are identical, and what is blue to you is blue to me.

  3. this question is weird. i think we all see the same thing in our eyes , rods and cones and we all see the same wavelengths that means the only possible way of humans seeing different colors is if our brain interprets the wavelenghts differently to other human brains but the human brain is still among the greatest mysteries of our mystic universe so who knows?

  4. You do make sense it may never be the same shade o blue you may see it as the way i see life in different shades of color thank you hun

  5. No one REALLY knows

but scientists say that we all see colors the same

because the amount of light that is absorbed by something

    Is what creates the color.

No one can see the absorbed light differently then another person. Even if you are color blind you still see same amount of absorbed light. you just see it in black and white because of lack of cones in your retinas.

  6. you see the same colour as us, barring some colourblindness, because materials absorb all the colours in light except, in this instance, the colour blue, which is reflected back for us to see.

  7. I dont think anyone is  "programmed" to call anything by a name. We learn the names of objects or colors gradually through life, we arent just born with the knowledge that the color is is named blue... And blue isnt the only name, there is bleu and azul...etc...
