Which colours do the partially blind and those poor of sight find the easiest to read/see.

Is it:

white text black background

yellow text blue background

etc.

  1. It depends upon the cause of visual impairment. Some people do better with dark text on a light background, some with light colored text on a black background, and there are also variations on what color combinations work best. If this is a web page, you might want to code in a user-designated option to choose from different style sheets so people can select the best option for them.


  2. It depends on the condition. For folks with macular degeneration, yellow on black provides the best contrast. For many other people with low vision, white on black is also fine. Yet more simply like normal colours, but adjusting the brightness on their monitor to reduce the glare.

  3. My eyes are HORRIBLE! White text with a black background is easier to read. My eyes are really sensitive to brightness, so the white stands out on the black. It's harder to see black text on white background. I guess because the white kinda blinds me. I really don't know..... I have to put my head close to the paper or computer screen. Well, the easiest for me is definitely white text on a black background.

  4. The maximum contrast and clarity for the human eye regardless of vision level with correction is white background with black text, just like on this page
