Colour blindness inherited from paternal or maternal grandfather in boy?

If the gene for red green colour blindness is s*x linked, would a colour blind boy have inherited this condition from his maternal or paternal Grandfather?

  1. The alleles for color blindness are s*x-linked (carried on the X chromosome) recessive.  A male child can only get a X chromosome from his mother.  So that being said to answer the question the condition would have to come from the maternal Grandfather (if you know for certain that he is colorblind).
