“Coloured Volleyball” event to be held in Czech Republic for children
Coloured Volleyball is a volleyball event solely dedicated to children aged 6-12 and it will be staged in Czech Republic. After the successful completion of children’s volleyball event in Nymburk, Czech Republic, the Czech Republic Volleyball Federation
is planning to organise more events of this kind. Since Czech Republic is the host of Euro Volley 2011 in September, the Czech Federation is eager to play an effective role in creating awareness among local people.
In this connection, a children’s event name “Coloured Volleyball” is on their “to do list”. The event has been named “Coloured Volleyball” due to fact that participating teams will be allotted different colours. Teams will be divided into five categories
where each group will bear a different colour. According to the plan, teams will be associated with Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, and Orange colours. The matches will be played in accordance with the FIVB rules but with some necessary modifications for children.
The last kids’ event in Nymburk was a complete success. It continued from 27-28 December, 2010, while 180 teams and 560 young Volleyball players took part in the volleyball action. The young volleyball stars were accompanied by their parents and coaches.
The Czech Federation set up 26 courts for children’s matches. The players received coloured t-shirts corresponding to their respective category. Each group was assigned a specific task. The yellow squad was supposed to only throw the catch the ball, while
the group wearing blue jerseys played 3 versus 3. Only the experienced players were allotted places in the blue group. The event successfully completed its run and put a lot of smiles on the young players’ faces as the successful teams were awarded different
prizes.
The event in Nymburk was a good experiment, which pushed Czech Volleyball Federation to host more of such events. The next children volleyball event is scheduled to be played in the city of Karlovy Vary in April. Likewise, the city of Prague will host the
event in May. One such event in the month of September will feature children aging 10-12, while will certainly be more exciting and a heated competition.
The Czech Volleyball Federation is keen to promote the sport of volleyball to every nook and cranny of the country. They have great plans to involve different age groups in the sport.
Good luck with their efforts.
