Question:

Coloured eye contacts?

Hello! =]

I'm wondering, how do coloured eye contacts work and where do you get them?

I hear stories of people going blind from store-brought eye-contacts. Is that true? Do I have to have them fitted from an optimist-guy?

Also, how well do contacts stay in? If I go to a mosh pit, will they fall out?

Thanks in advance! =]

  1. Coloured contacts are the same as normal ones, only made of tinted plastic.

You need to go to an optometrist, even if you don't need prescription contacts, because if you don't know how to put them in or care for them properly, it's easy to get an infection and potentially go blind.

Contacts stay in really, really, well. You honestly can't even tell you are wearing them. The only way they will come out is if you rub them really really hard, but just blinking/crying or whatever won't do anything. Mosh pit should be fine.

FYI, you are looking at about $90 for a 3 month supply.

  2. Colored contacts have a clear center through which you can see.  Sometimes you get a haze through the periphery of your vision from your pupil being larger than the hole in the contact lenses.  The color is simply painted or imprinted onto the lenses.  Some are impregnated into the lens.  Regardless, all contact lenses are medical devices even if they have no visual prescriptive power.  They must be fit to your eye, so you will need to see an optometrist in order to be fit.  They should not fall out under most circumstances.
