Colourful item...help please?

Question

I have to do a photography assignment using pure colour. I need to do a series of photos with a common element of colour that really draws the eye. For example, a red balloon. Any ideas????

Do you mean a common color element among many different photos?

Then if that is the case, and you were to choose red, why not photos of apples, of balloons, of the lipstick display at the cosmetic counter, of red shoes, of red VW bugs, of red pompons, of red tubes of paint, of red socks/scarves/purses/belts . .  . of red doors on houses . . . . of red lights?  

Is that what you mean?

Id take a swimming pool ball and put it in places without a lot of color. Like, in the road, in a field, like dark and random places where your eye is drawn straight to that object in the picture.

So, if I get this right, you're making shapes using just colors, but no detail or outlines or depth, right?

If you can use more than one color, you should try using complementary colors. (Use only one pair, and it will be more effective).

Complemetary colors are:

yellow & purple  (for example, a flower using both colors)

red & green (an X-mas tree)

blue & orange  (the ocean and the beach)

I did a painting of a guitar and I could only use 2 colors, so I used purple and yellow, and to create depth, I used different shades of each color.  It turned out awesome.

lots of the same color flowers but with a different color in there,

lot of black animals then with a singal white or yellow one...
